14.9.1 The ‘Image’ Menu of the Image Window

The Image menu contains commands which use or affect the entire image in some way, not just the active layer or some other
specific part of the image.
Note
Besides the commands described here, you may also find other entries in the menu. They are not part of GIMP itself,
but have been added by extensions (plug-ins). You can find information about the functionality of a Plugin by referring
to its documentation.
14.9.2 Duplicate
The Duplicate image command creates a new image which is an exact copy of the current one, with all of its layers, channels and
paths. The GIMP Clipboard and the History are not affected.
14.9.2.1 Activating the Command
• You can access this command from the image menubar through Image → Duplicate,
• or by using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl-D.
