Installation Guide

Flue Guard Assembly Instructions
1. Using a 17mm wrench, remove the lid by unscrewing the top nut. Reach inside the cage and turn the four (4) nuts, on the threaded
crossbar, towards the center post.
2. Slide all four (4) clamps towards the center. They may be stuck to the cage due to the painting process but should loosen with moder-
ate pressure.
3. Allow the clamps to drop down below the base of the cage.
4. Place cage on top of the ue (opening in the top of the chimney) with the clamps hanging down inside the ue.
5. Center cage over ue opening.
6. Reach down into the cage and turn the nuts towards the clamps by hand, causing the clamps to contact the inside of the ue. Tighten
the nuts by hand against the clamps equally. This will center the chimney cap on the ue.
7. Using a 17mm wrench, tighten the nuts securely. Note: Over tightening nuts can cause damage to the ue. With the correct amount of
clamping force no physical damage will be visible.
8. After tightening the clamps, try to lift the cage o the ue. It should not move. If it does, loosen clamps and reposition them making
sure that all four (4) points of the clamping mechanism contact the ue tile equally and that the cage sits straight. This is very important!
The uneven application of the grippers will not allow the clamps to hold securely.
9. Reinstall the lid, using the original nut.
CAUTION! Working above grade is inherently dangerous, be sure that proper fall protection measures
are in place. When working with power tools, gloves and eye protection are absolutely required.
