Screenshot 76 – Terminal Services: Port Check parameters dialog
A Terminal Services check requires the following parameters:
• Port – Specify the TCP port number which will be used for
communicating with a target computer. The default TCP port is
3389.
• Send command when connected – Enable this option to send the
specified command as soon as connection is established.
• Response must include the following string – Enable this option
and specify the string which must be present in the response. The
default response for SMTP servers generally includes: ‘200’.
• Timeout – Specify the number of milliseconds before the function
times out. Usually, a connection to the server is established within
1 second. However, some slow/busy servers need more time.
Recommended value is 7000 milliseconds.
NOTE: Terminal Services checks must run under a Local or Domain
Administrative account. Failure to run this check under such security
contexts will cause this check to fail with the error: "Failed to establish
a terminal server connection".
Terminal Services Physical Logon Check
GFI Network Server Monitor can check for the availability of Terminal
Services by simulating a remote user session on the terminal server of
the target computer.
