Troubleshooting
z If using an external speaker, make sure that the speaker is properly
connected.
Distorted sound is produced.
z Make sure that the volume control is not set too high or too low. In most

The sound system does not record.
z Adjust the playback or recording sound levels.
The external microphone or audio device does not work.
z Make sure that the microphone is connected to the proper connector on
the computer.
z Click the speaker symbol on the taskbar and check the Windows volume
control.
z Check the volume control of your computer.
Startup Problems
When you turn on the computer, it does not seem to respond.
z Make sure that either the AC adapter is connected or the battery has
power.
z For models with the “HDD preheat” feature: When turning on the
computer in an extremely low temperature environment, the computer
will heat up the hard disk before starting up. The Num Lock indicator
glows amber to indicate the heater is on. Wait till the heating is finished.
However, if external AC power is not available and the remaining
battery power is too low for the heating to complete, the computer may
not start up. In case the computer fails to start up, turn off the computer
and leave it in room temperature for about an hour before trying to
turn it on again.
When you turn on the computer, it stops after POST.
z Restart your computer.
