Firefighting Measures
5.1 Extinguishing media
Suitable Extinguishing Media
●
LARGE FIRES: Water spray, fog or alcohol
-
resistant foam.
SMALL FIRES: Dry chemical, CO2, water spray or alcohol
-
resistant foam.
Unsuitable Extinguishing
Media
●
Do not use a direct stream of water.
5.2 Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture
Unusual Fire and Explosion
Hazards
●
HIGHLY FLAMMABLE: Will be easily ignited by heat, sparks or flames.
Containers may explode when heated.
Vapor explosion hazard indoors, outdoors or in sewers.
Many liquids are lighter than water.
Most vapors are heavier than air. They will spread along ground and collect in low or
confined areas (sewers, basements, tanks).
Runoff to sewer may create fire or explosion hazard.
Vapors may form explosive mixtures with air.
Vapors may travel to source of ignition and flash back.
Dried solids can burn and release toxic fumes and vapors.
