House fuse may be blown or circuitbreaker tripped. Check fusesor circuit
breaker. Most electricaldryersuse two. It ispossiblefor one to be blownor
tripped and the dryer willstilltumble without heat.
Load may be improperlysorted. Do not mix heavy,hard-to-dry itemswith
lightweightarticles.
Large load of moisture-holdingfabrics, suchas beach towels, take a long
time to rerriovemoisture.
Too many itemsin dryer. Dry onlyone washerload at a time. Do not
combineloads.
Too fewitems in dryer. If dryingonly one article, add two similararticles,
even if dry, to insureproper tumbling.
Some fabrics willshrink whethermachinewashedand tumble dried or
washedby hand and drip dried; others may be safelywashed but willshrink
in a dryer. FOHOWGarment Manufacturers’ Care Labels exactly.If in
doubt, do not machinewash or dry.
Relaxationshrinkagecan occur in knit fabricsthat havebeen improperly
stretched and elongatedby the manufacturer. When this occurs, garment
may be pressed back into shape after each wash and dry cycle.
Progressiveor delayedshrinkageis caused when starch or sizing(in some
fabrics) isgradually removedby laundering. Maybe noticed in older
garments that have beenlaundered many timeswithout previousshrinkage.
Treat as for RelaxationShrinkageabove.
Shrinkugecaused by overheatingoccursin certain knit fabrics that have
been heat-shaped. When washing,drying or ironing temperatures exceed
the temperatures usedto shape set, shrinkagemay occur.This cannot be
corrected, but it can be prevented by washingin cold or warm water; drying
on Low Heat/Knits.
