8.5. Adjusting MIC and SPKR Levels
The modem has two gain controls for each of the MIC and SPKR signals. A coarse control sets
the level of the automatic gain control (AGC). A fine control adds additional resolution.
Setting these levels is achieved with the +WV commands noted in the command reference in the
next section. Currently there is no way to query these settings but that capability will be added in
future revisions of the firmware.
As discussed in Section 8.2.1 above, these settings are not saved with the profile when &W is
used. The coarse gain settings are retained until the modem is re-initialized, but the fine gain
controls are reset to default with each call. A future revision of firmware will preserve all settings
between calls and permit storing the setting profile for recall during modem initialization.
At the time a call is connected, the coarse gain settings are the same as the previous call, and the
fine gain settings revert to default. The modem remains in command state during the call allowing
changes to the settings as needed.
8.6. Terminating a Voice Call
When a call is connected the modem will remain in the on-line condition (off-hook) until
commanded to hang-up with the H0 (Hook Control) command. If the other end hangs-up (goes
on-hook), the modem will remain off-hook and noise will be heard on the SPKR line.
The modem cannot detect a lost voice connection. Only manual disconnection of the call is
possible.
