Landline Modems
Attempting to use the speaker phone without a modem installed causes Windows to lock up
• This can also happen if the IRQ settings in Windows under Control Panel, Ports don’t match those in the SCU.
Verify IRQ settings and that the modem option is installed. Locate the “Config” string label on the bottom of
the GoBook computer; a modem is not installed if the seventh digit is Z.
The modem dials and the answering modem generates tone, but our modem does not begin
the training sequence to establish a connection
Although the problem may appear to originate from the computer, the source of the problem is the answering
modem.
• Try setting up the answering modem to generate the correct V.22 tone which can usually be done by sending
an AT command to the modem. See the AT Command summary in the AT Command Reference manual more
information.
• Add %!1300AO to the initialization string. If used, this command must be sent immediately before the
command to dial the desired phone number and sent again before re-dialing the number since the modem will
default to the original setting at the end of the session.
Miscellaneous
The computer shuts off unexpectedly
• The computer has entered suspend mode. Press a key to turn it back on.
• The battery capacity may be low. Connect external power to charge the battery, or replace the battery with a
fully charged one.
