2) Antenna
There are two antennas. The internal antenna is uni-directional and is recommended for use in
areas of strong signal. For all other signal conditions the external whip antenna should be used.
In addition to the sucker shown, a Velcro patch is also available to allow the antenna to be fixed to
the rear of a laptop computer hinge up display.
For exceptional fringe area conditions, an external antenna could be connected to the antenna
socket on the PCMCIA card. This antenna is not supplied.
The external antenna may be mounted in one of two ways.
• Using the suction pad shown in the photograph on page 8, this is for a smooth surface
such as a window, it will not adhere to a textured surface.
• Using the Velcro pad in the box, this will allow the antenna to be fixed to a textured
surface such as the lid of a notepad computer.
