Maintenance
Regular maintenance will improve performance and extend
engine/equipment life. Regular maintenance, replacement,
or repair of the emissions control devices and systems may
be performed by any repair shop or person of the owner’s
choosing. To obtain emissions control warranty service free

Maintenance Schedule

WARNING
Accidental Start-up. Disconnect spark plug wire when 
working on unit. Failure to do so could result in death 
or serious injury.

WARNING
Hot Surfaces. When operating machine, do not 
touch hot surfaces. Keep machine away from 
combustibles during use. Hot surfaces could 
result in severe burns or fire.

Check engine oil level
Clean engine exterior, cooling fins, and remove collected grass*
Check general equipment condition
Replace broken or frayed cutting cords
Check Quick-Lock™ plate assembly for excessive wear
Check trimmer belt for stretching and replace if necessary. See 
Replacing Trimmer Belt

Lubricate engine control cable with SAE 30 oil
Replace engine oil

Replace engine air filter cartridge and foam pre-filter if equipped
Remove trimmer guard and clean out any collected debris
Replace spark plug
* Cleaning the top of the engine during use is critical for proper air flow.
