Replacing Mow-Ball or Line Plates
Mow-Ball Disassembly
1. See Figure 4-1. Align the hole in the anti wrap can-
ister (A) with the hole in the internal housing.

2. Insert a
Phillips-head screwdriver (B) through the
hole in the anti wrap canister and into the hole in
the internal housing.
3. Rotate Mow-Ball ass
embly (C) until the screw
driver slides into a hole in the shaft.
4. Lo
oking down at the top of the frame, turn the
Mow-Ball clockwise until it unscrews completely
from the bearing housing.
NOTE: If th
e Mow-Ball continues to turn, but does not
come off, verify the screwdriver is locked into the shaft.
NOTE: If
the Mow-Ball will not turn by hand, loosen the
bolt in the bottom of the Mow-Ball with a 9/16” socket.
5. Slid
e the line plates off the shaft.
Mow-Ball Assembly
WARNING
Personal injury. Verify all tools have been removed
from unit after service. Failure to do so could result
in personal injury or equipment damage

NOTE: Improper installation can damage trimmer bear-
ings.
1. See Figure 4-2. Place spacer (A) and anti wrap
canister
(B) onto the shaft. The anti wrap canister
lip must be facing up as shown.
2. Slid
e line plates (C) onto the shaft with the follow-
ing requirements:
Line plates must be facing top up as shown in
Figure 4-2.
The flat at the center of each line plate (D) must
align with the flat on the shaft.
The tabs on the underside of the line plates must
fully engage with tab holes (E) on the topside of the
line plates.
3. Place
the head of Mow-Ball bolt (G) so it is sitting
in the hex cavity at the bottom of the Mow-Ball (F).
4. Loo
king down at the top of the frame, hold the bolt
head in place with your finger and turn the Mow-
Ball counterclockwise to start the bolt into the shaft.
5. T
ighten the assembly securely by turning the Mow-
Ball counterclockwise when looking down on the
top of the frame.
6. V
erify there are no gaps between the components
