General Information and Setup
Adding Engine Oil and Fuel
Engine Fluid Requirements
Engine Oil
SAE 30 high detergent oil classified “For Ser-
vice SF, SG, SH, SJ” or higher.*
Fuel Unleaded gasoline. Minimum 85 octane rating.
See the engine owner’s manual for detailed engine information,
incl
uding oil and fuel quantiles and cold temperature oil specifi-
cations.
Adding Engine Oil

Fire and explosion risk. Keep spark and flame
away from liquid and vapor. Do not smoke while
using. Doing so could result in death, serious
injury, or equipment damage.

Skin irritation. Avoid prolonged or repeated contact with
used motor oil. Used motor oil has been shown to cause
skin cancer in laboratory animals. Thoroughly wash
exposed areas with soap and water.

Engine damage. Verify proper type and quantity of
engine oil prior to starting engine. Failure to do so
could result in engine damage.
CAUTION
IMPORTANT NOTE: The unit is shipped without oil in
engine. Traces of oil may be in reservoir from factory
testing. Oil must be added prior to initial operation.
Use only the recommended high detergent engine
oil. See Engine Fluid Requirements.

it on a firm, level surface. Verify engine is
cooled.
2. See Figure 2-9. Place a support (A) under Mow-
Ball (
B) to level the frame and engine (C)
NOTE: Eng
ine and frame must be level to ensure an
accurate reading.

3. See Figure 2-10. Open oil fill cap (D) and initially
add half of
the recommended oil into the oil fill. See
Engine Fluid Requirements for more information

ait one minute for the oil to settle.

5. See Figure 2-11. Fully install the dipstick and then
re
move it to recheck the oil level. Continue adding
a small amount of oil at a time, rechecking the dip-
stick until the oil level is
in middle of hatched area
(E), between add hole (F) and full hole (G).
NOTE: Do not
overfill.

6. Install
oil fill cap/dipstick and hand-tighten.
