Home Standby Remote Start Kit

Model No. 0066130

Purpose

This kit enables the activation of a Remote Start Feature. The Remote Start Feature exists on ALL home standby generators that have a

controller fitted with an LCD screen. Units without an LCD screen do NOT have the remote start capability, except for the PowerPact™

generators.

NOTE: EcoGen units are equipped with two wire start, so this kit is not required. CorePower™

units do not have an LCD screen, on

the controller, so the kit is not applicable.

The feature is contained within the LCD screen units and is enabled via a password. The option to enable remote start is found under the “Edit”

menu. This menu allows you to scroll through various parameters and change them. Once they are changed, they will be remembered even

when the power is removed.

Remote Starter Kit Contents

NOTE: The kits contain different wire types, based on the mating connector lugs. Some kits contain spare wires.

FOR ALL GENERATORS

Utility Power shall be removed from the generator prior to performing the following service for all generator models.

1. 2008 Controller

1. Unlock and open the generator lid.

2. Turn the generator to the OFF mode.

3. Remove the 7.5 Amp fuse from the top of the control panel.

4. Remove the generator front panel.

5. Disconnect the negative (-) black lead from the generator battery.

Home Standby Remote Start Kit Model No. 0066130 NOTE: The exercise function will need to be reset every time the 12 volt battery and T1 power to the generator are disconnected and then reconnected, and/or when the fuse is removed and T1 power is removed from the generator. 1.1 - Wiring Two wires need to be added to the wire harness. The harness is plugged into a connector on the underside of the 2008 controller. 1. Bottom (underside) of 2008 Controller for Steps 1-3.

Place the generator in the AUTO mode. 9. After completing installation, verify that the two wire start is functioning properly. 2. Nexus Controller (2009-2012) 1. Reconnect the negative (-) black lead to the battery. 9. Install the generator front panel. 10. Install the control panel 7.5 Amp fuse. 11. Leave the generator in the OFF mode. Be certain that both battery leads are connected, the 7.5 Amp fuse is installed and the generator switch is in the OFF mode.

Home Standby Remote Start Kit Model No. 0066130 3.1 - Wiring Two wires need to be added to the wire harness. The harness is plugged into a connector on the underside of the Evolution controller. 1. Unplug the 20-pin connector (J1) and the 16- pin connector (J2) from the control panel underside by carefully releasing the latch on the side of each connector, Figure 5. Press ENTER to select this parameter as the one to be edited. 8. Use the up/down arrow keys to change the display to read YES. 9. Press ENTER to store the data. Remote start is now enabled. 10.
