DON'T OVERLOAD THE
GENERATOR
Overloading a generator in excess of its rated w_e
capaci_/_n result in dam_e to the generator and/or
connected electrical devices. Observe the following, to
prevent overloadingthe unit:
• Add up the total ware of all electri_l devices to be
connected at one _ime. This t_t_l should NOT be
grea_er than the generator's wa_e capacity.
• The rated ware of lights can be taken from light bulbs.
The rated ware of tools, appliances and motors can
usually be found on a dat_ pla_e or decal affixed to the
device.
• If the appliance, tool or motor does not give wa_i_ge,
multiply 120 Volts times ampere rating to determine
wa_s (volts x amps = wa_i_),
• Some electric motors, such as inductJon _/pes, require
about three times more watts of power for starting than
for running, This surge of power lastsfor only a few
seconds when starting such motors, Be sure you allow
for this high starting wa_age when selec_Jng electrical
devices to connect to your generator. First figure the
wa_s needed to start the largest motor. Add to that
figure the running watts of all other connected loads.

provided to help you to determine how many items the
generator can operate at one time,
