Operation
NOTE: Stop engine and allow to cool before performing
maintenance.
1. Inspect discharge opening for debris or damage.
Clear any debris prior to operation.
2. Remove any material left in the hoppers.
3. Loosen or remove any material left in chipping/
shredding chamber(s) using a wooden stick.
4. Start unit and allow remaining material in chipping/
shredding chamber(s) to discharge.
NOTE: If chipping/shredding chamber(s) does not clear
and flywheel is still jammed, repeat steps 1–4.
5. Verify chipping/shredding chamber(s) is clear
before trying to process more material into hop-
per(s); further clogging could result in belt or clutch
failure. Contact an IASD if problem persists.
Cleaning Clogged Shredder
1. See Figure 3-3. Remove hair cotter pin (A) at end
of baffle retaining rod, and remove baffle retaining
rod.

2. Remove baffle retaining bolt and hair cotter pin,
and then remove baffle.
3. Remove top screen retaining bolt.
4. Grasp top of screen and rotate outwards to expose
the shredder hammers assembly. The lower
screen retaining bolt may need to be loosened to
accomplish this.
5. See Figure 3-4. Remove any debris wrapped
around shredder hammer drive shaft (B) or col-
lected in hammers assembly (C) or screen.

6. Position shredder screen and install top screen
retaining bolt and locknut. Tighten the lower screen
retaining bolt if necessary.
7. Install the baffle plate with the baffle retaining bolt
and locknut.
8. Install the baffle retaining rod and hair cotter pin.
9. Connect the spark plug wires, start the machine,
and allow any remaining material in shredding
chamber to discharge.
10. Repeat steps 1–9 if shredding chamber does not
clear.
NOTE: If shredding chamber does not clear, do not pro-
cess more material into hopper. Further clogging could
result in belt or clutch failure.
