General Information and Setup
Positioning the Baffle Plate
1. See Figure 2-6. Remove baffle rod (A) and hair
cotter pin (B).

2. See Figure 2-7. Install baffle rod and locknut
underneath baffle plate (C) to hold it in discharge
position.

NOTE: There are two discharge positions. Move baffle
rod to the alternate baffle rod hole to keep discharged
material in a smaller area.
Installing the Maintenance Meter Wire
The maintenance meter and maintenance meter bracket
are factory installed. Prior to startup, the maintenance
meter wire must be connected. Follow the procedure
below to connect the maintenance meter wire:
1. See Figure 2-8. Install sensor wire (A) firmly into
sensor wire connector on back of meter.

2. Find a suitable path for the sensor wire leading to
the engine spark plug. Use two cable ties to secure
the wire to the handlebar or frame.
NOTE: Do not place wire on or near hot surfaces.
3. Wrap meter wire tightly around the spark plug wire,
approximately 1–2 in (2.5–5.1 cm) from the end of
spark plug wire. Secure spark plug wire to itself
using a cable tie. Cut excess cable tie and sensor
wire; discard.

30–90 °F (-1–32 °C): 10W-30

Fuel Unleaded gasoline. Minimum 85 octane rating.

injury, or equipment damage.

Skin irritation. Avoid prolonged or repeated contact with
used motor oil. Used motor oil has been shown to cause
skin cancer in laboratory animals. Thoroughly wash
exposed areas with soap and water.

engine oil prior to starting engine. Failure to do so
could result in engine damage.
