I am unable to create a wireless connection to a wireless
router or access point.
Possible Solution:
Verify t hat you are using t he sam e SSI D, Channel, and Securit y inform at ion as the
wireless rout er or access point . Perform t he following steps t o verify and, if necessary,
update t he sett ings:
1. Right - click t he Ut ilit y icon in the system tray and select Open Utilit y.
2. On t he Wireless Networks tab, pull down the Add m enu and select Use
W izard. Browse through the list of available wireless network devices and
locate t he correct wireless rout er or access point . I f you do not see t he correct
device, click Refresh to updat e the list. Double- click t he device. I f t he correct
device still does not appear, click M a nually conne ct t o an a dvance d
ne t w ork and ent er t he appropriate inform at ion t o creat e t he ent ry.
3. When t he Propert ies window appears, verify and, if necessary, update t he
appropriat e connection and securit y inform at ion for t he wireless network
device. Make sure you do not have the checkbox next to This is a com puter- to-
com puter (ad hoc) network selected. When you are finished, click OK.
4. On t he m ain screen, click Apply and a connection will be established.
