Aschangingtheshaftsealinvolvesopeningtherefrigerant
circuit, this is recommended only if the seal is losing
refrigerant.Replacingtheshaftsealisdescribedinthespare
partkitconcerned.
Emptyingtheoilreservoir:Theoilreservoircanbeemptied
very simple without having to dismantle the clutch and/or
beltdrive.Itisrecommendedthatthisisdoneatthesame
timeastheair-conditioningmaintenanceandmotorservice.
Toproceed,detachtheoilhosefromthebracket,removethe
sealingpluganddrainthe oilintoacollectingvessel.After
emptying,resealtheoilhoseandclampitintothebracket.
Dispose of the used oil in accordance with national
regulations.
Thecompressorshaftissealedtooutsideusingashaftseal.Thesealingelementrotateswiththe
shaft.
Thefollowingisespeciallyimportanttoensuringfault-freeoperation:
Thecompleterefrigerantcircuitmustbecorrectlyexecutedandcleaninside.
Heavyshocksandvibrationstotheshaftaswellascontinuouscyclicoperationaretobe
avoided.
Thesealingsurfacescansticktogetherduringprolongeddowntimes(e.g.winter).Therefore,run
thesystemevery4weeksfor10minutes.

ATTENTION! Slugging can damage the compressor and cause refrigerant
to leak.
Topreventliquidshocks:
Thecompleterefrigerationplantmustbecorrectlydesignedandexecuted.
Thecapacitiesofallcomponentsmustbecompatible(particularlyevaporatorandexpansion
valve).
Suctiongassuperheatingattheevaporatoroutputshouldbeatleast7–10K(checksetting
oftheexpansionvalve).
Thesystemmustreachastateofequilibrium.
Particularlyincriticalsystems(e.g.severalevaporatorpoints),suitablemeasures,e.g.
useofliquidtraps,solenoidvalveintheliquidline,etc.arerecommended.
