Operating Instructions Bottom Mount Refrigerator Set the temperature controls Your refrigerator has two controls that let you regulate the temperature in the fresh food and freezer compartments. They have settings from 1 through 9, and are located at the top of the fresh food compartment. The freezer control also has an OFF setting. 9 is the coldest setting, 1 is the warmest. WHEN YOU FIRST TURN THE REFRIGERATOR ON, SET BOTH CONTROLS AT 5.
Automatic Icemaker (on some models) Bottom Mount Refrigerator Automatic icemaker A newly-installed refrigerator may take 8 to 12 hours to begin making ice. The icemaker will produce eight cubes per cycle—approximately 100 cubes in a 24-hour period, depending on freezer compartment temperature, room temperature, number of door openings and other use conditions. If your refrigerator is operated before the water connection is made to the icemaker, keep the feeler arm in the STOP (up) position.
Storage Drawers Bottom Mount Refrigerator Storage drawers These drawers have individual, adjustable humidity controls that let you control the amount of cold air entering the drawers. Slide the control all the way to the High setting and the drawer provides higher humidity levels recommended for most leafy vegetables. Slide the control all the way to the Low setting and the drawer provides lower humidity levels recommended for most fruits.
Shelves Bottom Mount Refrigerator Adjustable shelves in the fresh food compartment Tempered glass shelves in the fresh food compartment enable you to make efficient shelf arrangements to fit your family’s food storage needs. To remove shelves: Tilt shelf up at front, then lift it up and out of tracks on rear wall of refrigerator. To replace shelves: Select desired shelf height. With shelf front raised slightly, engage top lugs in tracks at rear of cabinet.
Shelves Bottom Mount Refrigerator Door shelves Some door shelves are adjustable and can be moved up and down to meet your storage needs. The deeper door shelves must be placed at the bottom of the door. To remove: Lift the shelf up and slide it towards you. Freezer drawer with basket Inside the freezer drawer is a wire slide-out freezer basket. This basket can be pushed back so items on the bottom of the freezer drawer can be reached. To remove the basket: Pull the drawer forward.
Care and Cleaning Bottom Mount Refrigerator Cleaning outside The door handles and trim can be cleaned with a cloth dampened with a solution of mild liquid dishwashing detergent and water. Dry with a soft cloth. Don’t use wax on the door handles or trim. The stainless steel panels and door handles (on some models) can be cleaned with a commercially available stainless steel cleaner such as Stainless Steel Magic.
Care and Cleaning Bottom Mount Refrigerator Preparing for vacation Light bulb replacement in the fresh food compartment For long vacations or absences, remove food and unplug the refrigerator. Move the control to OFF, and clean the interior with a baking soda solution of one tablespoon (15 ml) of baking soda to one quart (1 l) of water. Leave the doors open. Turning the control to OFF does not remove power to the light circuit. There are two light bulbs in the top of the fresh food compartment.
Preparation Bottom Mount Refrigerator Refrigerator location Do not install refrigerator where temperature will be below 60°F (16°C) because it will not run often enough to maintain proper temperatures. Do install it on a floor strong enough to support a fully loaded refrigerator. Clearances If the refrigerator is to be installed in a corner, allow 2″ (51 mm) between the hinges of the refrigerator and the wall to assure a 90° door opening capability.
