Installation instructions
CONNECTING THE DRYERTO HOUSE VENT
RIGIDMETALTRANSITIONDUCT
For best drying performance, a rigid metal transition duct is
recommended.
Rigidmetal transitions ducts reduce the risk of crushing and
kinking.
UL-LISTEDFLEXIBLEMETAL(SEMI-RIGID}TRANSITIONDUCT
If rigid metal duct cannot be used, then UL-listedflexible metal
(semi-rigid)ducting can beused(KitWX08X10077).
Neverinstallflexiblemetal duct in walls, ceilings, floors or other
enclosedspaces.
Total length of flexible metal duct should not exceed 8 feet
(2.4m).
Formany applications, installingelbows at both the dryer and
the wall ishighly recommended(seeillustrations).Elbowsallow
the appliance to sit closeto the wall without kinking and or
crushingthe transition duct, maximizingdrying performance.
Avoid restingthe duct on sharp objects.
UL-LISTEDFLEXIBLEMETAL(FOIL-TYPE}TRANSITIONDUCT
In special installations, it may be necessaryto connect the
dryer to the housevent using a flexible metal (foil-type)duct.
A UL-listedflexible metal (foil-type)ductmay be used ONLYin
installations where rigid metal or flexible metal (semi-rigid)
ducting cannot be used AND where a 4" diameter can be
maintainedthroughout theentirelengthof thetransitionduct.
InCanadaandthe UnitedStates,onlythe flexiblemetal(foil-type)
ductsthat complywith the "Outlinefor ClothesDryerTransition
Duct Subject2158A"shallbe used.
Neverinstallflexiblemetal duct in walls, ceilings, floors or other
enclosedspaces.
Total length of flexible metal duct should not exceed 8 feet
(2.4m).
Avoid restingthe duct on sharp objects.
Forbest drying performance:
1.Slideoneend of the duct overthe clothes dryer outlet pipe.
2.Securethe duct with a clamp.
3.With the dryer in its permanent position, extendthe duct to
its full length.Allow 2" of duct to overlap the exhaust pipe.
Cutoff and removeexcessduct. Keepthe duct as straightas
possiblefor maximum airflow.
4. Securethe duct to the exhaust pipewith the other clamp.
