9. Connect the SDIDU

to the laptop computer, using a Cat-5 Ethernet cable or connect the
SDIDU
TM
to a computer network, using a Cat-5 Ethernet cable. Connect the Ethernet cable
to NMS 1 or 2 connector on the SDIDU
TM
front panel. Refer to Figure 2-2 for the SDIDU
TM
front panel connections.

3.7.3.1 Setting the IDU IP Address
To manage the MDS 5800 II remotely the IP address of the radio must be set. If the SDIDU
TM
IP
address is set to the factory default or any known value. Use a web browser to access the
SDIDU
TM
GUI and set the IP address as follows as described in section 3.7.3.1.1. If the IP
address is unknown, a hyperterminal connection via a serial cable can be used as described in
section 3.7.3.1.2.
3.7.3.1.1 Using the GUI to set the IP address
1. The IDU should be accessible from your PC. A network ‘ping’ can be done to verify
connectivity to the IDU.
