Ensure there is no debris around the pilot assembly, e.g. coal, soot, etc
which could short the spark, clean the area.
Consult users
instructions, retry
Is the valve being
operated correctly?
Reset the pilot
burner
Correct and retry
Check for defective or
damaged control knob
spindle or cam operation.
Check for the correct
location of piezo
components. Correct and retry.
Operate the valve to
light the pilot, does the
valve ‘click’?
Has ignition lead become
detached or is connection
poor?
Remove the ignition lead from
electrode with
insulated pliers hold the
tip 3.5mm from the pilot
pipework,is there a spark when
the valve ‘clicks’?
Is the ignition lead
detached from the piezo in the
valve?
Replace the ODS unit
Replace the Piezo unit
Replace the igntion
lead and retry
Is the gap between electrode

Replace the batteries in the ignitor unit and retry

Operate the valve to light
the pilot, can repetitive
clicks be heard?
Has ignition lead
become detached or is
connection poor?
Is the gap between
the electrode and
thermocouple as in
Diagram 24?
Remove the ignition lead
from electrode. With
insulated pliers. Hold the
tip 3.5mm from the
pilot pipe work, is there
a spark when the valve
'clicks'?
Replace the ignition lead
and retry
Correct and retry.
Reset the pilot burner
Check for defective or
damaged:
- Microswitch and leads.
- Control Mechanism.
Correct and retry.
