Splicing the Perimeter Antenna
As the antenna is rolled out and inserted into the saw-cut, it will be necessary to splice together sections of
antenna. This job will go faster if you put together a splicing kit like the one shown below.
A sample splicing kit
Forming the splice:
1. Strip off approximately two inches of the
outside insulation from each side of the splice.
2. Strip off the inner insulation to expose about 1
inch of copper wire on each side of the splice.
3. Slide a piece of heat shrink tubing about 5
inches long onto one of the wires. Move it
away from the splice for now.
4. Twist the strands together as shown in the
figure at right, keeping the two wires in line
with each other. DO NOT bend the wire at a
90 degree angle to form the splice.
