SITE PREPARATION AND FOUNDATION (Materials NOT supplied with kits) Note: Site preparation is required for this ramp. Placing posts on a footing is highly recommended. Without footings, settling could occur. The manufacturer is not responsible for replacing parts damaged or property lost due to incorrect assembly. Note: Complete the site preparation and footings before unpacking parts and beginning assembly. To prepare ramp site, follow the steps below: 1) Consult local building codes before construction.
COMMON SYSTEM CONFIGURATIONS BEFORE ASSEMBLY: Layout posts in a rough approximation of desired configuration. Refer to planning guide at Lowes.com/ramps for more details. NOTE: R100 Bottom Run and R242 Ramp Run have two A5 T Leg Assemblies that accept a crossbeam. When joining a Bottom Run or Ramp Run to a landing, one A5 T Leg Assembly must be switched with a Landing Leg Assembly (A6 or A7) to accept a crossbeam on two sides. NOTE: Configurations can be combined as needed.
ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS: FOR ALL KITS 1. Before beginning assembly, open all kits and compare package contents with package contents and hardware contents lists to be certain all parts are accounted for. Next, identify all posts: the A5 T Leg Assemblies, A6 Landing Leg (A) Assemblies, A7 Landing Leg (B) Assemblies, and the A8 Landing Sq. Leg Assemblies. Layout posts where needed. Refer to the Common System Configurations section on page 15. 2.
ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS: FOR ALL KITS 3. Holding firmly in place, attach a support joist bracket (K) to a support joist (J) with #14 x 1 in. HWH #3 Tek Screws (EE). 3 Recommended Tool (not included): drill with 3/8 in. hex nut driver Hardware Used EE #14 x 1 in. HWH #3 Tek Screw x8 R242, R342, R442 Joists Fig. 3a 4. Attach another support joist bracket (K) to the other end of the support joist (J) using #14 x 1 in. HWH #3 Tek Screws (EE). R100 Joists Fig.
ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS Ramp Run R242 5. Layout both side rails (G). Pivot side rail brackets (H and I) (pre-assembled) to position shown. Attach with #14 x 1 in. screws (EE) each. Tighten pre-assembled screws. 5 NOTE: DO NOT OVER-TORQUE SCREWS. Recommended Tool (not included): drill with 3/8 in. hex nut driver Hardware Used EE #14 x 1 in. HWH #3 Tek Screw x 12 6. Attach crossbeam RC536/RC548 (Z) (sold separately) to T Leg Assembly (A5) with 1/4 in. x 3 in. bolt (AA) and 1/4 in. nut (BB).
ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS Ramp Run R242 7. Attach other end of crossbeam RC536/RC548 (Z) (sold separately) to remaining T Leg Assembly (A5) with 1/4 in. x 3 in. bolt (AA) and 1/4 in. nut (BB). 7 NOTE: Insert bolt (AA) in the same direction as step 6. Hardware Used AA BB 1/4 x 3 in. Bolt 1/4 Nut x1 x1 8. Determine next section of ramp for second set of posts. If the next section is an R242 Ramp Run or R100 Bottom Run, repeat steps 5 and 6 with T Leg Assemblies (A5) from the appropriate kits.
ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS Ramp Run R242 9. Position post assemblies as shown with 1/4 nut (BB) facing direction of ramp’s upward slope. 9 10. Attach handles (PP) on all post pins. For safety, remove handles after installation. 10 TIP: Turn handle (PP) so that the open side is facing up. This will ensure the handle does not come off when attempting to raise the crossbeam. Hardware Used PP Handle x 4 11 11. Hang the support joists (J) over the crossbeams RC536/RC548 (Z). Space the joists between 12 in.
ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS Ramp Run R242 12. Lock side rails (G) over crossbeams RC536/RC548 (Z) (sold separately). 12 13. Pull handles (PP) to adjust the side rails (G) until they are level. TIP: Turn handle (PP) so that the open side is facing up. This will ensure the handle does not come off when attempting to raise the crossbeam. 13 Lowes.
ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS Ramp Run R242 14 A2 A3 14. If section is next to house/deck, set Threshold RT536/RT548 (sold separately) to stabilize and level unit. Slide threshold plank (A2) into plank (A3). Adjust location of plank (A2) to allow plank (A3) to hit end surface. Fasten threshold plank (A2) to side rails (G) with 1-1/2 in. screws (NN). Fasten threshold plank (A3) to ending surface with a 1/4 anchor (not included). Hardware Recommended Hardware Used NN Screw, #8-18 x 1-1/2 in.
ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS Ramp Run R242 15. Starting from a level horizontal position, lower one crossbeam RC536/RC548 (Z) six holes down on the posts to achieve an approximate 1:12 slope. 15 Recommended Tool: level 16. Level crossbeam RC536/RC548 (Z) by turning the fine adjustment set screw in the sleeve with a hex key (not included). Turn clockwise to raise crossbeam and counterclockwise to lower crossbeam. 16 Recommended Tools: hex key, level Determine the next section of your ramp.
