Afoxê e Afoxê consists of a gourd shaker (cabaça)
wrapped with cords that are strung with
beads. e instrument is shaken to produce its
sound.

Berimbau e Berimbau is a single-string percussion
instrument from Brazil. It consists of a single
metal string strung across a four to ve foot

string is struck with a wooden stick called a
baqueta. A hollowed-out gourd acts as a reso-
nator. e player changes the tone by press-
ing against the steel string. e instrument
originated from the mbelz, or musical bow, of
Africa.
