Dai e Dai is an Indian tambourine consisting
of a circular wooden or metal ring with a skin
drum head. It is often used in weddings and
other celebrations and is also known as Dui
or Daf.

Damroo
e Damroo, or Damru, is a two-sided drum
with an hour-glass shape. e instrument is also
known as the “monkey talking drum.” ere are
two dierent Damroos in this collection.

Dhol e Dhol is a large double barrel-shaped drum
played with sticks. It is a loud instrument and
often used in weddings in the Indian subconti-
nent and is now used in Indian pop music. It is
also known as a Dohol.

Dholak e Dholak is popular folk drum played in
North India, Pakistan, and Nepal. e instru-
ment is made of hollowed out wood and has
two tunable heads.

Ghatam e Ghatam is a clay goblet drum used in
South Indian classical music. It is played with
the ngers and sometimes with metal rings on
the ngers. Similar to the African Udu drum
and also known as a Matka.
