VERTICAL DEVIATION
NOTE: The Glidepath Indicator is only shown for aircraft with GIA 63W Integrated Avionics Units when SBAS
is available.
TheVerticalDeviationIndicator(VDI)isamagentachevronindicatingthebaro-VNVverticaldeviationwhen
VerticalNavigation(VNV)isbeingused(Figure2-12).TheVDIappearsinconjunctionwiththe“TODwithin
1minute”alert.TheVDIisremovedfromthedisplayifverticaldeviationbecomesinvalid.SeetheFlight
ManagementSectionfordetailsonVNVfeatures,andrefertoSection2.2,SupplementalFlightData,formore
informationaboutVNVindicationsonthePFD.
The Glideslope Indicator(Figure2-13)appearstotheleftoftheAltimeterwheneveranILSfrequencyis
tunedintheactiveNAVeld.AgreendiamondactsastheGlideslopeIndicator,likeaglideslopeneedleon
aconventionalindicator.Ifalocalizerfrequencyistunedandthereisnoglideslope,“NOGS”isdisplayedin
place of the diamond.
NOTE: The Glidepath Indicator appears on the display as soon as the Final Approach Fix (FAF) becomes the
active waypoint. Depending on procedure design, pilot action, and/or ATC clearance, the aircraft may be
centered on or above the glidepath when the Glidepath Indicator appears.
TheGlidepathIndicatorisaverticaldeviationscaleforGPSapproachessupportingSBASverticalguidance
(LNAV+V,L/VNAV,LPV,LP+V).TheGlidepathIndicator,amagentadiamond(Figure2-12)appearsonthe
displayassoonastheFinalApproachFix(FAF)becomestheactivewaypoint,andFMSistheselectednavigation
source.Full-scaledeection(twodots),isangularwithupperandlowerlimits.Theupperlimitis+/-150
meters and lower limits depend on approach service level.
• LNAV/VNAVis+/-45meters.
• LPV/LP+Vis+/-15meters.
Iftheapproachdowngradespastthenalapproachx(FAF),“NOGP”isdisplayedinplaceofthediamond.
