6.5 PROFILE VIEW TERRAIN
WARNING: Do not use Profile View Terrain data for primary terrain avoidance. Profile View Terrain is intended
only to enhance situational awareness.
NOTE: Terrain data is not displayed when the aircraft is outside of the installed terrain database coverage
area.
The G1000H offers a ProleViewofterrainandobstaclesrelativetotheaircraft’scurrentightpathandaltitude
ontheNavigationMapPageoftheMFD.ProleViewdoesnotprovideterrainorobstaclecautionorwarning
annunciationsorvoicealerts,nordoesitdisplaypotentialimpactpointsinsidetheProleView.Thecolors
andsymbolsusedtorepresentterrainandobstaclesarethesameasthoseusedintheHTAWSfeaturediscussed
previously.
Accessing Profile View:
1) Select the Navigation Map Page.
2) Press the MAP Softkey.
3) Press the PROFILE Softkey to enable or disable Profile View.
Or:
1) Press the MENU Key.
2) Select ‘Show Profile View’ or ‘Hide Profile View’ (choice dependent on current state) and press the ENT Key.
Enabling/Disabling Profile View Terrain on the Navigation Map (when Profile View is enabled):
1) Select the Navigation Map Page.
2) Press the MAP Softkey.
3) Press the TERRAIN Softkey.
PROFILE VIEW DISPLAY
WhentheProleViewisenabled,itisdisplayedinawindowbelowtheNavigationMap.Altitudeisshown
alongaverticalscale,withanaircrafticonpositionedatthecurrentaltitude.Distanceisrepresentedhorizontally
alongthebottomoftheProleView,andincreasesfromleft(presentposition)toright.
Whenthe NavigationMaprangeisadjustedwiththeRANGE Knob,thehorizontaldistance ofthe Prole
Viewisadjustedproportionatelytobe1/2oftheNavigationMaprangedistancedownto1nm,atwhichpoint
ProleViewisnolongeravailable(‘PROFILENOTAVAILABLE’isdisplayed).WhenNavigationMaprange
isadjustedtoremovealtitude-correlatedcoloredterraindata(asshownintheTerrainLegend)orobstacles
fromtheNavigationMap,theseitemsarealsoremovedfromtheProleView;onlyanoutlineoftheterrain
willbedisplayedinblackintheProleViewwindow.RefertotheHTAWSsectionformoreinformationabout
displayingterrainorobstaclesontheNavigationMapPage.
