HAZARD AVOIDANCE
TAS ALERTS
WhenthetrafcsystemdetectsanewTA,thefollowingoccur:
•A single “Traffic!” voice alert is generated, followed by additional voice information about the bearing,
relativealtitude,andapproximatedistancefromtheintruderthattriggeredtheTA(Table6-22).Thevoice
alert,“Traffic! 12 o’clock, high, four miles,”wouldindicatethetrafcisinfrontofownaircraft,aboveown
altitude,andapproximatelyfournauticalmilesaway.
•ATRAFFICAnnunciationappearsatthetoprightoftheairspeedonthePFD,ashesforvesecondsand
remainsdisplayeduntilnoTAsaredetectedinthearea(Figure6-117).
•ThePFDInsetMapisautomaticallydisplayedwithTAtrafc.
IfthebearingofTAtrafccannotbedetermined(Figures6-119and6-122),ayellowtextbannerwillbe
displayedinthecenteroftheTrafcMapPageandinthelower-leftofthePFDinsetmapinsteadofaTA
symbol.Thetextwillindicate“TA”followedbythedistance,relativealtitude,andverticaltrendarrowforthe
TAtrafc,ifknown.
ATAwillbedisplayedforatleasteightseconds,evenifthecondition(s)thatinitiallytriggeredtheTAareno
longer present.
