PathwaysprovidesupplementalglidepathinformationonanactiveILS,LPV,LNAV/VNAV,andsomeLNAV
approaches.Pathwaysareintendedasanaidtosituationalawarenessandshouldnotbeusedindependent
oftheCDI,VDI,glidepathindicator,andglideslopeindicator.Theyareremovedfromthedisplaywhen
theselectednavigationinformationisnotavailable.Pathwaysarenotdisplayedbeyondtheactivelegwhen
legsequencingissuspendedandarenotdisplayedonanyportionoftheightplanlegthatwouldleadto
interceptingaleginthewrongdirection.
Departure and Enroute
Priortointerceptinganactiveightplanleg,pathwaysaredisplayedasaseriesofboxeswithpointersat
eachcornerthatpointinthedirectionoftheactivewaypoint.Pathwaysarenotdisplayedfortherstleg
oftheightplanifthatsegmentisaHeading-to-Altitudeleg.Therstsegmentdisplayingpathwaysisthe
rstactiveGPSlegoractivelegwithaGPSoverlay.IfthislegoftheightplanrouteisoutsidetheSVS
eldofview,pathwayswillnotbevisibleuntiltheaircrafthasturnedtowardthisleg.Whileapproaching
thecenteroftheactivelegandprescribedaltitude,thenumberofpathwayboxesdecreasestoaminimum
offour.
Pathwaysaredisplayedalongtheightplanrouteatthehighestofeithertheselectedaltitudeorthe
programmedaltitudefortheleg.Climbprolescannotbedisplayedduetothevariablesassociatedwith
aircraftperformance.Flightplanlegsrequiringaclimbareindicatedbypathwaysdisplayedatalevelabove
theaircraftatthealtitudeselectedorprogrammed.
