GROUND MODE
GroundMode isnormallyselectedautomaticallywhentheaircraftisonthe ground. The transponder
powersupinthelastmodeitwasinwhenshutdown.GroundModecanbeoverriddenbyselectinganyone
of the ModeSelectionSoftkeys.AgreenGNDindicationandtranspondercodeappearinthemode field of
theTransponderDataBox.InGroundMode,thetransponderdoesnotallowModeAandModeCreplies,
but it does permit acquisition squitter and replies to discretely addressed Mode S interrogations.
WhenStandbyModehasbeenselectedontheground,thetranspondercanbereturnedtoGroundMode
by selecting the GND Softkey.
