PathwaysprovidesupplementalglidepathinformationonanactiveILS,LPV,LNAV/VNAV,andsomeLNAV
approaches.Pathwaysareintendedasanaidtosituationalawarenessandshouldnotbeusedindependent
oftheCDI,VDI,glidepathindicator,andglideslopeindicator.Theyareremovedfromthedisplaywhen
theselectednavigationinformationisnotavailable.Pathwaysarenotdisplayedbeyondtheactivelegwhen
legsequencingissuspendedandarenotdisplayedonanyportionoftheightplanlegthatwouldleadto
intercepting a leg in the wrong direction.
DepartUre anD enroUte
Priortointerceptinganactiveightplanleg,pathwaysaredisplayedasaseriesofboxeswithpointersat
each corner that point in the direction of the active waypoint. Pathways are not displayed for the first leg
oftheightplanifthatsegmentisaHeading-to-Altitudeleg.Therstsegmentdisplayingpathwaysisthe
rstactiveGPSlegoractivelegwithaGPSoverlay.IfthislegoftheightplanrouteisoutsidetheSVS
eldofview,pathwayswillnotbevisibleuntiltheaircrafthasturnedtowardthisleg.Whileapproaching
thecenteroftheactivelegandprescribedaltitude,thenumberofpathwayboxesdecreasestoaminimum
of four.
Pathways are displayed along the flight plan route at the highest of either the selected altitude or the
programmedaltitudefortheleg.Climbprolescannotbedisplayedduetothevariablesassociatedwith
aircraftperformance.Flightplanlegsrequiringaclimbareindicatedbypathwaysdisplayedatalevelabove
the aircraft at the altitude selected or programmed.
