SeveralsituationscanoccurwhileVerticalPathTrackingModeisactivewhichcausetheightdirectorto
reverttoPitchHoldMode:
•Verticaldeviationexceeds200feetduringanoverspeedcondition.
•Verticaldeviationexperiencesadiscontinuitythatbothexceeds200feetinmagnitudeandresultsinthe
verticaldeviationexceeding200feetinmagnitude.Suchdiscontinuitiesareusuallycausedbyightplan
changes that affect the vertical profile.
•Verticaldeviationbecomesinvalid(theVerticalDeviationIndicatorisremovedfromthePFD).
•AdisplayentersReversionaryMode(thisdoesnotapplytoanactiveverticaldirect-to).
UnlessVNVisdisabled,VerticalPathTrackingModeandtheappropriatealtitudecapturemodebecome
armedfollowingthereversiontoPitchHoldModetoallowforpossibleprolerecapture.

PitchHold,VerticalSpeed,andFlightLevelChangemodescanalsobeusedtoynon-pathdescents
whileVNVightcontrolisselected.IftheVS or FLCKeyispressedwhileVerticalPathTrackingModeis
selected,VerticalPathTrackingModerevertstoarmedalongwiththeappropriatealtitudecapturemodeto
allowprolere-capture.
