Manually testing the TAWS-B System:
1) Select the TAWS-B Page.
2) Press the MENU Key (Figure 6-89).
3) Select ‘Test TAWS System’ and press the ENT Key to confirm the selection.

TAWS-Bcontinuallymonitorsseveralsystem-criticalitemssuchasdatabasevalidity,hardwarestatus,and
GPS status. If the terrain/obstacle database is not available, the aural message “TAWS System Failure” is
generatedalongwiththe‘TAWSFAIL’alertannunciation.
TAWS-Brequiresa3-DGPSnavigationsolutionalongwithspecicverticalaccuracyminimums.Shouldthe
navigation solution become degraded or if the aircraft is out of the database coverage area, the annunciation
‘TAWSN/A’isgeneratedintheannunciationwindowandontheTAWS-BPage.Theauralmessage“TAWS Not
Available”isgenerated.WhentheGPSsignalintegrityreturnsandtheaircraftiswithinthedatabasecoverage
area,theauralmessage“TAWSAvailable”isgenerated
