FLIGHT INSTRUMENTS
When a bearing pointer is displayed, its associated information window is also displayed. The Bearing
Informationwindows(Figure2-24)aredisplayedtothelowersidesoftheHSIandshow:
•Bearingsource(NAV,GPS,ADF)
• Pointericon(BRG1=singleline,BRG2=doubleline)
•Frequency(NAV)
•Station/waypointidentier(NAV,GPS)
•GPS-derived great circle distance to bearing
source
IftheNAVradioisthebearingsourceandistunedtoanILSfrequency(refertotheAudioPanelandCNS
Sectionforinformationontuningtheradios),thebearingpointerisremovedfromtheHSIandthefrequency
isreplacedwith“ILS”.WhenNAV1orNAV2istheselectedbearingsource,thefrequencyisreplacedbythe
station identifier when the station is within range. If GPS is the bearing source, the active waypoint identifier
isdisplayedinlieuofafrequency.
ThebearingpointerisremovedfromtheHSIand“NODATA”isdisplayedintheinformationwindowif:
•TheNAVradioisnotreceivingthetunedVOR
station
•GPSisthebearingsourceandanactivewaypoint
is not selected
Selecting bearing display and changing sources:
1) Press the PFD Softkey.
2) Press a BRG Softkey to display the desired bearing pointer and information window with a NAV source.
3) Press the BRG Softkey again to change the bearing source to GPS.
4) Press the BRG Softkey a third time to change the bearing source to ADF (note: ADF radio installation is
optional).
5) To remove the bearing pointer and information window, press the BRG Softkey again.
DME INFORMATION WINDOW
NOTE: DME radio installation is optional.
The DMEInformationWindow(Figure2-24)isdisplayedabovetheBRG1InformationWindowandshows
theDMElabel,tuningmode(NAV1,NAV2,orHOLD),frequency,anddistance.Whenasignalisinvalid,
thedistanceisreplacedby“–.––NM”.RefertotheAudioPanelandCNSSectionforinformationontuning
the radios.
Displaying the DME Information Window:
1) Press the PFD Softkey.
2) Press the DME Softkey to display the DME Information Window above the BRG1 Information Window.
3) To remove the DME Information Window, press the DME Softkey again.
