FLIGHT INSTRUMENTS
The Arc HSI is a 140˚ expanded section of the compass rose. The Arc HSI contains a Course Pointer,
To/FromIndicator,aslidingdeviationindicator(theTo/Fromanddeviationindicatorsarecombined),anda
deviationscale.Uponstationpassage,theTo/FromIndicatoripsandpointstothetailoftheaircraft,justlike
aconventionalTo/Fromag.Dependingonthenavigationsource,theCDIontheArcHSIcanappearintwo
differentways:anarrowhead(GPS,VOR,OBS)oradiamond(LOC).

The SelectedHeadingisshowntotheupperleftoftheHSIfor3secondsafterbeingadjustedThelightblue
bugonthecompassrosecorrespondstotheSelectedHeading.WhiletheHSIisdisplayedasanarc,ifthe
SelectedHeadingBugisadjustedofftheshownportionofthecompassrose,thedigitalreadingisdisplayed.
Adjusting the Selected Heading:
Turn the
HDG
Knob to set the Selected Heading.
Press the HDG Knob to synchronize the bug to the current heading.
The SelectedCourseisshowntotheupperrightoftheHSIfor3secondsafterbeingadjusted.Whilethe
HSIisdisplayedasanarc,theSelectedCourseisdisplayedwhenevertheCoursePointerisnotwithinthe140˚
currently shown.
Adjusting the Selected Course:
Turn the
CRS
Knob to set the Selected Course.
Press the CRS Knob to re-center the CDI and return the course pointer to the bearing of the active waypoint or
navigation station (see OBS Mode for adjusting a GPS course).
