GROUND MODE
Ground Mode is normally selected automatically when the aircraft is on the ground. The transponder
powers up in the last mode it was in when shut down. Ground Mode can be overridden by selecting any one
of the ModeSelectionSoftkeys.AgreenGNDindicationandtranspondercodeappearinthemodeeldof
theTransponderDataBox.InGround Mode, the transponder does not allow Mode A and Mode C replies,
but it does permit acquisition squitter and replies to discretely addressed Mode S interrogations.
When Standby Mode has been selected on the ground, press the GND Softkey to return the transponder
to Ground Mode.

NOTE: In Standby Mode, the IDENT function is inhibited.
Press the
STBY
Softkey at any time to select StandbyMode.InStandby,thetransponderdoesnotreply
to interrogations, but new codes can be entered. When Standby is selected, a white

transponder code appear in the modeeldoftheTransponderDataBox.Inallothermodes,theseelds
appear in green.
