SeveralsituationscanoccurwhileVerticalPathTrackingModeisactivewhichcausetheightdirectorto
reverttoPitchHoldMode:
•Verticaldeviationexceeds200feetduringanoverspeedcondition.
•Verticaldeviationexperiencesadiscontinuitythatbothexceeds200feetinmagnitudeandresultsinthe
verticaldeviationexceeding200feetinmagnitude.Suchdiscontinuitiesareusuallycausedbyightplan
changes that affect the vertical profile.
•Verticaldeviationbecomesinvalid(theVerticalDeviationIndicatorisremovedfromthePFD).
•AdisplayentersReversionaryMode(thisdoesnotapplytoanactiveverticaldirect-to).
UnlessVNVisdisabled,VerticalPathTrackingModeandtheappropriatealtitudecapturemodebecome
armedfollowingthereversiontoPitchHoldModetoallowforpossibleprolerecapture.
non-Path Descents
PitchHold,VerticalSpeed,andFlightLevelChangemodescanalsobeusedtoynon-pathdescents
whileVNVightcontrolisselected.IftheVS or FLCKeyispressedwhileVerticalPathTrackingModeis
selected,VerticalPathTrackingModerevertstoarmedalongwiththeappropriatealtitudecapturemodeto
allow profile re-capture.

To prevent immediate profile re-capture, the following must be satisfied:
•Atleast10secondshavepassedsincethenon-pathtransitionwasinitiated
•Verticaldeviationfromtheprolehasexceeded250feet,butisnowlessthan200feet
PressingtheVNVKeytwicere-armsVerticalPathTrackingforimmediateprolere-capture.
