Load Approach
‘Load Approach’ allows for the selection of a published
instrument approach for the destination airport. It also
replaces the current approach with a new selection. In
many cases, it is more convenient to select approaches us-
ing the PROC key, or by pressing the LD APR softkey.
To select an approach for a Direct-to or
flight plan destination airport:
1. From the Active Flight Plan Page, press the
MENU
key to display the Active Flight Plan
Page options.
2. Highlight the ‘Load Approachoption and press
the
ENT
key.
3. A window is displayed listing the available
approaches for the destination airport. Turn
either the
small or
large FMS
knob to highlight
the desired approach and press the
ENT
key.
4. A second window is displayed listing avail
-
able transitions for the approach. Turn either
the
small or
large FMS
knob to highlight the
desired transition waypoint and press the
ENT
key. (The vectors option assumes the pilot will
receive vectors to the final course segment of
the approach and will provide navigation guid-
ance to intercept this final course.)
5. Turn the
large FMS
knob to highlight ‘Load?
or Activate?’ and press the
ENT
key. ‘Load’
adds the approach to the flight plan without
immediately using the approach for navigation
guidance.
This allows for the original flight plan to continue
navigating until cleared for the approach, but keeps the
approach available for quick activation when needed.
‘Activate’ adds the approach to the flight plan and begins
navigating the approach course.
