HAZARD AVOIDANCE
TRAFFIC ADVISORY SYSTEMS (TAS) (OPTIONAL)
NOTE: Errors indicated by a failed screen prevent continued use of the TAS interface. See the applicable
Pilot’s Guide for detailed information on Failure Response.
The G1000 provides an optional display interface for the following Traffic Advisory Systems (TAS):
• Bendix/King KTA870
• Avidyne TAS600 Series Systems
The two TAS function similarly to each other except for a user-initiated KTA870 Test Mode and display
ranges. The Traffic Map Page for the Avidyne TAS600 Series does not display OPERATE, STANDBY, or TEST
Softkeys. See the Bendix/King KTA 870 and Avidyne TAS600 Series Pilot’s Guides for more information.
TRAFFIC MAP PAGE (TAS)
The Traffic Map Page (Figure 6-38) controls the source of traffic data on the Navigation Map Page.
Selecting the Traffic Map Page:
1) Select the Navigation Map Page.
2) Turn the small
FMS
Knob until the Traffic Map Page is selected.
3) Press the
OPERATE
Softkey to begin displaying traffic. ‘TAS OPERATING’ is displayed in the Traffic Mode Field.
4) Press the
STANDBY
Softkey to place the system in the Standby Mode. ‘TAS STANDBY’ will be displayed in the
Traffic Mode Field.
5) Rotate the
Joystick
clockwise to display a larger area or rotate counter-clockwise to display a smaller area.
