Snails and slugs such as the red slug and Spanish slug are
known to be ravenous garden pests. Under good conditions
they can reproduce rapidly. Slugs feed on healthy plants such
as lettuce in your vegetable patch or decorative flowers like
French marigold or daliahs.
If you would prefer eating the lettuce yourself instead of
being challenged to your food by hungry mollusks, you need
to protect your garden. The Gardigo Snail-Stop Fleece will
help you with this task. The mat is made of virgin wool and
uses a physical mechanism: Its fibers irritate the skin of the
slugs and dehydrate them when they move on the surface.
The mollusks do not like this and they will avoid the mat.
Simply place the Snail-Stop Fleece over the ground and cut slits
through which your plants can grow. Cut the fleece to the requi-
red size. Fixate the fleece with pegs, stones or clips if necessary.
The fleece retains heat and serves as frost protection. Since the
light only reaches your plants and no longer the weeds on the
ground, weed growth is reduced. The Gardigo Snail-Stop Fleece
is made of wool and is therefore 100% biodegradable. After ap-
prox. 2 years, it can simply be buried in the soil as a fertilizer.
