Integers!
Your students have been chosen to create a board game for a math company to help promote
learning integers in a FUN way. They need to design and create this to present to the
company to see which group will be chosen.
Break your students up into groups of 2 or 3.
Each group will need:
o One copy of the Student Directions Worksheet
o Copy of the Student Job Cards
o One copy of the Group Worksheet
o Crayons, Markers or Colored Pencils
o Scissors
o Glue
o Colored Paper
o Access to a digital device (if possible) to type directions / materials list
o One copy of each of the four game boards (optional - encourage students
to get creative and use cardboard or other items)
Each group will:
o Design their own integer operations game that must include all four
operations and include the use of positive/negative integers and the
order of operations.
o Write detailed directions on how the game should be played.
o Include a materials list of everything in the "box".
Each group should:
o Either use dice or some form of cards with problems on them.
o Ideally, the answer a student gets will indicate their movement forward or
backwards on the game board.
o Come up with a creative theme for their board game's world: space, a carnival,
the beach, etc.
o Test their game out! They should play it and make sure it works and is fun.
