Classifying a Contact with the Stadimeter
1.
Select a class.Click
BACK
and
NEXT
to view a different platform class name in the Ship
Silhouette list.A 3-D silhouette of that class appears in the Silhouette window.
2.
Rotate and zoom the model. Click
PORT
and
STBD
to rotate the aspect of the 3D model in the
Silhouette window until it matches the position of the contact in the photo.This can better help
you determine if this silhouette is a match. Click the Zoom buttons to alter the size of the
silhouette in the window.
3.
Continue the search. Continue to cycle through classes until you find a silhouette that matches.
The name listed in the Ship Silhouette window identifies the class of the contact.
Determining a Contact’s Range with the Stadimeter
1.
Adjust the photo. Click the Image Adjust buttons to separate the two halves of the image.Adjust
the image such that the top of the highest mast is even with the waterline on the other half of
the image.The estimated range to the ship is displayed in the Range (Yds) display.
2.
Mark the contact. Once you have determined the contact’s range, click
MARK
to send the
contact’s bearing and range to TMA and the Nav map.
