PLANT FOREST sF RATE 4
A forest of terran trees provides a limited but steady supply of nutrients and min-
erals, regardless of the underlying terrain. Forests spread to adjacent undeveloped
squares over time. Forest can not be planted in squares containing enhancements
other than a road or mag tube. Tree Farm and Hybrid Forest facilities increase the
resources available from forest squares inside the base’s production radius.
BUILD ROAD R RATE 1 (+1 FOR RIVER, +2 FUNGUS,
+2 FOREST, +1 ROCKY, CUMULATIVE)
Roads speed movement at a rate of three road squares for every one square of nor-
mal movement. Roads can be built only in land squares devoid of xenofungus until
the discovery of Centauri Empathy, which allows roads to traverse xenofungus.
BUILD MAG TUBE R RATE DEPENDS ON TERRAIN
Mag tubes are the heavy transit system of the future, utilizing magnetic forces
to push passenger and cargo modules through a vacuum tube at near hyper-
sonic speeds. Movement by mag tube is free, allowing a unit to move from any
square with a mag tube to any other square connecting to that mag tube, as
long as that unit has movement points remaining. Mag tubes may be built in
any square containing a road.

CONSTRUCT BUNKER K RATE 5
Bunkers are defensive fortifications that can be built on any land square. They
increase the defensive strength of all units inside them and limit the effects of
collateral damage (see Damage, p. 103).
Requires Advanced Military Algorithms.
CONSTRUCT AIRBASE s. RATE 10
An airbase is a ground facility outside a base where air units can land safely,
refuel, repair, and take off again.
