Building a farm requires Centauri Ecology. Building a kelp farm also requires

CONSTRUCT SOIL ENRICHER F RATE 8
Enrichers may be built only on land squares containing farms. They increase
the nutrient production of the farm by one.
Requires Advanced Ecological Engineering.
CONSTRUCT MINE/MINING PLATFORM M RATE 8
Mining increases mineral production by +1 in flat or rolling squares and +2 in
rocky squares, but they reduce nutrient output by one if the square would
ordinarily produce more than one. A road in a mined rocky square adds an
additional +1 to the square’s mineral output. Mining platforms increase min-
eral production by +1 in ocean squares until the discovery of Advanced
Ecological Engineering; they add +2 minerals thereafter. Mines cannot be built
in squares occupied by xenofungus or a monolith. Mining platforms may be
built only on ocean shelf squares.

RATE 6 (+2 IN ROCKY)/4 (TIDAL HARNESS)
A solar collector (or a tidal harness on an ocean shelf) increases energy pro-
duction. Solar collectors produce one energy per level of altitude (see
Energy/Elevation, p. 38), while tidal harnesses produce +2 energy on ocean
shelf squares. Solar collectors cannot be built in squares containing xenofun-
gus or a monolith.
