CONTROLLING SOCIETY
CHAPTER 5
141
SOCIAL FACTORS
Your faction possesses a numerical ranking (negative, positive or zero) in each
of the following categories. Positive ratings represent assets of your society,
negative ratings are liabilities. The specific results of each ranking in each fac-
tor are found in the table in Appendix 2: Social Factors, p. 158.
Although they’re most directly determined by your social choices (see Society
Window, p. 136), these ratings are also directly affected by your original fac-
tion philosophy, and several Secret Projects. Several base facilities can change
the ratings for that base only. Children’s Creche, for example, increases the
Growth rating for each base that builds one.
ECONOMY
Increases or decreases energy production by squares and by base; also
increases or decreases commerce income (see Commerce, p. 131).
EFFICIENCY
Increases or decreases loss due to inefficiency or modification of
energy allocation (see Energy Allocation, p. 117).
SUPPORT
Increases or decreases the cost to support units outside of your base.
High ratings can give you a number of units that can be supported
“for free” (see Home Base, Support and Pacifism, p. 89).
MORALE
Increases or decreases the morale of your units. Negative values can
actually decrease the combat readiness of units (see Morale/Lifecycle,
p. 87).
