PROBE TEAM ACTIONS
Probe Teams are covert ops agents. They infiltrate the bases and territory of
other factions and conduct espionage and sabotage.
Some Probe Team actions require an investment of energy. How much depends
on the severity of the action and the enemy’s strength. Most major Probe Team
actions are legitimate grounds for Vendetta and, in the event you are caught, may
cause your reputation among the other factions to suffer (See Integrity, p. 131.)
When you initiate any Probe Team action, you are shown your chance of suc-
cess, expressed as a pair of percentages (the higher your Probe Team’s morale,
the better the odds). The first percentage shown is the team’s chance of com-
pleting the operation, the second is its chance of escaping alive. When a Probe
Team enters a base or any square containing an enemy unit, it may attempt
the following actions:
INFILTRATE DATALINKS
The probe team hacks into the faction’s Datalinks. This greatly increases your
intelligence data about that faction, including access to their report readouts,
and even individual base readouts.
STEAL TECHNOLOGY
Just what it says. You grab the other faction’s research technology. You may
try for a specific technology, or grab one at random. Attempts to steal specif-
ic technology are much more difficult.
SABOTAGE BASE
You can either destroy an existing facility, wreck Planet Buster silos, or wipe out
all minerals accrued towards that base’s current build orders. You may target a
specific facility, or destroy something at random. Attempts to sabotage a spe-
cific facility are much more difficult. You cannot sabotage faction HQ or Secret
Projects. Perimeter Defenses and Tachyon Fields are extremely hard to target.
