2. Place your mouse cursor over the OBS. Move the little hand slightly to the left, then slightly to
the right. You should notice the appearance of a “+” or “–” symbol within the cursor.
By clicking the mouse button when a “+” or “–” symbol is in view, the course selector knob
rotates, so you can select a specific course. Practice selecting all four course values shown in
Figure 5.
Figure 6 shows that you’ve selected
the 360-degree course (360 is
shown above the index). To fly this
course, you’d turn to a direction of
360 degrees on the heading
indicator. Assuming you’ve done
this, and your airplane is in position
A, the VOR indicator should show a
centered needle with a TO flag
(upward-pointing triangle)
indication.
As you fly along the selected
course, the TO flag automatically
changes to a FROM flag
(downward-pointing triangle) as
you pass the VOR station (position
C). When you are directly over the
station (position B), the flag reads
OFF (red-and-white stripes),
indicating that you’re neither going
to nor from the VOR at the time.

Choose Tutorial 9, Situation 2. In this exercise, you’re flying to a VOR station on the 360-degree
course (OBS set to 360) while heading 360 degrees. You have just a few miles to go before crossing
