With the back of the N-Gage game deck facing you, slide open the cover (Fig. 1). 3. Slide finger into the finger slot, then lift and remove the battery (Fig. 2). 2. Before inserting or removing a game card, ensure you save all unsaved data as inserting a new game card will close all open applications. 3. You are about to undertake one of the greatest challenges in the history of humankind: to establish a civilization and lead it to prosperity! Along the way you will match wits with history’s greatest rulers, acquire resources, develop economies, respond to crises, negotiate or fight with rival civilizations and, hopefully, emerge the victor.

If you want to jump right in, select Quick Start. To customize your world size, level of competition, tribe, gender, ruler’s name and city style, select Start Game. Modify your world even further by selecting Customize World. After you are finished, the game will begin.

Then press Key 5 to access each one. City mode Map square (Tile) mode All units mode Active units mode Tile cursor — Use to move the Tile cursor anywhere on explored territory (using Key 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6, 7, 8, 9 will perform the same movements). Press Key 5 a second time to bring up details of that Tile.

Civilization’s in-game displays give you the data you need to assess your civilization’s status. There’s just a bit of terminology and iconography to understand before you get going. Gold. Shield (raw materials). Barbarian unit. Grain (food). Specialist citizen – Entertainer.

Some pop-ups prompt you to make decisions as well. To dismiss any pop-up, press Key 5 or 7. To answer “yes” to a question, press Key 5. To answer “no,” press Key 7 (you can also use the and keys). You can adjust tax, science and luxury rates, view government type, and stage a revolution to change governments. Press / , then / to adjust the rates.

Defense Minister — See the number of each type of unit you have as well as those under construction.

Once the space race has begun, this screen will display a list of your spaceship’s components. As soon as they are complete, you can launch your ship. In order to launch a spaceship, you need at least 15 structures, 2 components (1 fuel and 1 engine) and 3 modules — 1 for each type.

There are loads of these, but there simply is not room to show them all. Page 11 ENGLISH Report Screens 11:51 AM City Status — Map Menu > Advisors > City Status Shows the cities, the item in production, the progress towards production, as well as the food, production and trade units. It provides links to screens with more specific information.

Press Key 5 to access the City Production screen. Note that only one unit of any kind can be built at a time. • Building — You can purchase what you are building immediately, for an amount of gold.

All Naval units, with the exception of submarines and transports, can conduct shore bombardments. To see all units that you have, check with your Military Advisor. • Wonders — Wonders of the World are extraordinary city improvements in that they are structures that must be built. Each Wonder is unique; it may be built only once during a game.

Trade is a fundamental force driving civilizations. Taxes maintain city improvements and add to the treasury. Research funding drives technological research.

Press any key to bring up the Civilization Power Graph, which reveals the course and culmination of your civilization’s evolution. From here, press any key to bring up your civilization’s score. Use or to enter the Civilization Hall of Fame.
