RAID 1 Degraded Mode and Rebuild for Windows
IfyourG-RAIDUSBisinRAID1congurationandeitherasingledrivefailureoccurs
orifamemberoftheRAID1setisremoved,thentheactivedrivewilloperate
indegradedmode.
What is Degraded Mode? Inatwo-driveRAID1array,ifoneofthedrivesfailsorifoneofthe
drivesisremovedthentheactivedrivekeepstheuserdataintactbutwithoutanyfail-safe
mechanismuntiltheRAIDarrayisrebuilt.Thisstateofoperationiscalleddegradedmode.
TorebuildtheRAID1set,pleaseinsertanewdriveinplaceofthefaileddriveorthedrivethat
hasbeenremoved.Ifthisnewdriveisnotformatted.Formoreinformationaboutformatting
yourdrivetoNTFSforWindowspleaseCLICK HEREandyoucanformatthedrive.Ifthis
replacementdriveisformattedthenyouarereadytorebuildtheRAIDset.Toseehowtoreplace
afaileddrive,pleaserefertothesectionReplace a Failed Drive Module.
G-RAIDUSBhasanautorebuildfeaturebuiltintoit.Onceyouinsertaformattedreplacement
disktheRAID1willstartrebuildingautomatically.Totalrebuildtimeisdependentonthetotal
capacityofeachdrive.Therebuildtimeisapproximatelytwohoursperterabyte.
